Leonard Washington Update
As reported earlier today by Marc Maggard on kentuckyink.com, Leonard Washington is postponing his announcement until a minor glitch with the NCAA clearinghouse is resolved. Apparently he was issued a letter (via land-mail) that told him that he was cleared, however the Clearinghouse web-site, which NCAA institutions use to verify clearance, did not show his name as a cleared student athlete. Apparently there is some sort of mix up that may be a major or minor problem. No one really knows for sure.
Hopefully for his sake (and maybe UK's) they can get this straightened out for the young man as soon as possible. It is obvious that he would like to join a team mid-season. Sources say it is between UK and USC, the Pac-10 version. He desperately needs this taken care of ASAP!

It might have been smart for them to open and READ the letter before reporting to several media members that he was eligible....
I'm sure it's not on purpose, but your comments are not accurate. LW did NOT get a letter saying he was cleared. He got a letter saying his paperwork has been complete and he thought it meant he was cleared.

What I meant was they need to understand the meaning of the letter before broadcasting it to the world. While I am sure they read it, evidently they did not understand it was only a completed announcement, not eligible. I think I phrased it differently from what i meant. Has their been any timeline from the NCAA for how long it takes from completion until they decide?
I played college soccer and had to go through the clearinghouse, it was pretty painless. However Washington is in a completely different category than I was because of his early graduation, so I really don't know. I hope that they do expedite the process for his sake.
